'Yodan' is derived from the Japanese for four phases, 四段 (''yodan''), which may be the origin of the Bakugan's Kanji. 'Shifour' is derived from the Japanese for four, [[wikt:四|四]] (''shi''), and its English. The derivations of both words refer to its ability to transform into four modes.
