It is based on the ''[[Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia]]'' season of the anime, but also draws heavily from ''[[Gundalian Invaders]]'' and ''[[Mechtanium Surge]]''. The new battle mode uses a new fighting engine similar to that of a Tower Defense game.

*The game was originally going to be for the Nintendo 3DS. When the 3DS didn't sell as well as planned, it became a Nintendo DS-exclusive.
*The only real Bakugan in this game are the Brawler's Bakugan and their Traps. The others are replications and the ultimate ones are clones of the originals, with the exception of Knight Percival.
*All of the voice clips are reused from [[Defenders of the Core]].
*Despite this game taking place after New Vestroia, [[Falcon Fly]] appears, instead of its evolved version, [[Flash Falcon Fly]].
