Contents
Variations
- Heavy Metal: Have a chrome metal band around the middle of a Bakugan, designed for extra stability.
- Spin Top Bakugan/BakuCyclone: Have a winding mechanism, top half of the Bakugan spins when opened, designed for knocking other Bakugan off the card. This type of Bakugan usually opens up without being set on a metal Gate Card.
- Element/G-Power Change: Have a wheel, which rotates when opened. Have three printed attribute symbols and G-powers on wheel. The Attribute/G-Power is then changed to that shown on wheel.
- Jumping/Boost: Have a small protruding spot on the bottom of the Bakugan, designed to hop when rolled.
- Turbine/BakuZoon: Have a small gyroscope in the middle of the ball, a ripcord is used to spin the gyro, which the Bakugan will roll automatically when placed on a flat surface.
- Light Up/BakuBolt: The Bakugan lights up, usually with red light.
- Dice Thrower: When the Bakugan opens it throws a die that determines its attribute or G-Power.
- BakuTremor: May be winded up to vibrate on open.
- BakuVice: Bakugan with stronger springs
- Double Magnet System (ダブルマグネットシステム, Daburu Magunetto Shisutemu?):[2] The Bakugan has two opening positions in the same pod with separate magnets, thus having twice the chance of standing.
Unreleased Special Attacks
Meta Dragonoid, Iron Dragonoid, Mutant Elfin, Flash Ingram, and Cyclone Percival were planned Special Attacks in Bakugan: New Vestroia, but never saw release during that season. Evidence for this is their respective Ability Cards, that were shown during the season but never released, as well as them appearing on one of late checklist posters. Instead, they were released in Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge. Flare Wilda was also never released.

Non-SA Special Feature Bakugan
Starting from Gundalian Invaders, some Bakugan with special features were sold just as a Special Treatment, instead of Super Assault, as well as all Mechtanium Surge except Sky Raiders, which got their own branding. It was done due to those Bakugan not being too expensive to produce, and were sold alongside Core Bakugan in Booster, Starter Pack and other packs.
Trivia
- Special Attack Bakugan from Bakugan Battle Brawlers Anime released after Series 1 are actually part of New Vestroia toyline, specifically BakuNeon wave.
- In Japan, Special Attack Bakugan at one point were transformed into BakuTech, product line of special feature Bakugan to later become separate series with its own character and continuity.
- In New Vestroia, all Special Attack except for Heavy Metal and Attribute Change ones seen in Anime were also released as Core Bakugan, likely to make those Bakugan affordable to more people and boost sales this way. Some examples of such treatment are Neo Dragonoid, Cyborg Helios and Hades.
- Despite Special Attack usually being released in only normal color, there were occasions when they got Special Treatment coloring. Examples of that are Series 1 Special Attack packs having exclusively special coloring, as well as Elfin and Preyas in Bakugan Brawler Evolution Packs. Skyress also was pretty frequently getting Special Treatment coloring due to often being packed as Core Bakugan.
