A Banned Card is a card, or sets of cards, that were not usable in competitive brawling formats. While there were not any strictly banned cards in North American formats (i.e. Baku-Con and the Bakugan Battle League), the Japanese official brawling scene had some restrictions, such as restricting certain Gate Cards, and Ability Card combinations.

There were no major restrictions in the North American scene. The only restriction was during the 2010 Baku-Con, where HSP Cards were limited to only cards with positive Attribute bonuses.
<code>Your Bakugan gains G-Power based on its Attribute. If 3 of your Bakugan are Flare Dragaon, Kilan Leoness, and Gran Panzer, your Bakugan additionally gains 100 G-Power.</code>

In the Bakugan Trading Card Game there are two different card releases, a Spin Master version and a Takara Tomy version. Due to differences in certain Bakugan stats and card bonuses, for official Spin Master matches only Spin Master cards are allowed and the Takara Tomy versions are banned.
