The Evo Tournament was created by Dr. Lowery as method of gathering and obtaining power from brawling Bakugan and forcing [[Mecha Chamelia]], a synthetic Bakugan, to evolve.
The first Evo Tournament started as a small stand with a few participants, as a way of testing the evolution machine. However, Katie was not accepted by the other participants, and after a brawler expressed that the machine made them and their Bakugan feel disorientated, which caused the rest of the brawlers to ridicule Katie. After seeing Katie distraught, Mecha Chamelia increased the affects of the machine, causing the brawlers and Bakugan that were bullying Katie to lose their memories. Mecha Chamelia refined the machine in order to make its effects more gradual, and the Evo Tournament grew and became more popular.
