''Bakugan'' no longer uses the [[Faction]] system from [[Generation 2]], instead adding a new set of symbols, called [[Clan]]s, each with currently unknown purposes and meanings:

*[[Dinosaur Clan]]
*[[Bug Clan]]
In addition, a secondary symbol - that of a Bakugan Ball sticking out its tounge - appears on certain Bakugan and their [[Character Card (Generation 3)|Character Cards]], denoting the [[The Misfit Clan]].
The third Generation introduced three types of cards to replace the card types from Generation 2:
