Bakugan LLP was formed by five Sega Toys subsidiaries and companies: SEGATOYS, TMS ENTERTAINMENT, SEGA CORPORATION, Sammy Corporation, and Sammy NetWorks on October 30, 2009, and was slated to exist until June 30, 2012. The partnership had an original capital of 1 billion Yen, or approximately 11,050,000 US Dollars at the time of the formation.[2][3] This consolidated a number of functions of the franchise that were scattered among the companies.

The Bakugan LLP agreement managed the section of the franchise in Japan, which covered the release of Defenders of the Core, the creation of Bakugan Arcade Battlers, and other promotional agreements such as the Glico card booster packs.[4][5][6]
