The first season of Bakugan was released in Japan, later released in the United States. The anime consisted of

Physical Game[edit]

At first, the Bakugans size was 28mm with the toy series called "B1". The Bakugan later became "B2", which increased the size of the Bakugan sphere to 32mm.

The six Attributes of Pyrus, Aquos, Haos, Subterra, Ventus, and Darkus were introduced. Special Treatments such as Clear and Pearl were also introduced.

Some Bakugan had unique features such as their sphere having a metallic ring, which gave it the name "Special Attack". Special Attack Bakugan weren't expanded until the next season.

Despite the first season failing in Japan, the next season was released in North America and increased the popularity of the Bakugan anime.

Physical Game[edit]

Several new Bakugan were introduced, the design for the Bakugan became more unique, evolving from the more simple designs.

Most importantly, a new type of Bakugan was introduced to the game, these were called Bakugan Traps.

Other special treatments were introduced such as BakuSteel and BakuCore.

Special Attack Bakugan were expanded to include spinning Bakugan, Bakugan that held dice, etc.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers: Gundalian Invaders[edit]

Anime[edit]

After the end of season 2, the anime lead the framework to the next season, Gundalian Invaders.

Physical Game[edit]

The third season of Bakugan introduced several new features in the game such as Battle Gear, Super Assault, and Bakugan Mobile Assault.

Spin Master also created an Online mmo (now defunct) called Bakugan Dimensions. Every season 3 Bakugan (and some that were re-released) contained a code that people can enter online to the MMO.

Battle Gear acted like Support Pieces similar to Bakugan Traps, but could actually increase the G-Power of Bakugan and could be connected to Bakugan as long as they had pegs to support it.

Super Assault was a spiritual successor to the Special Attack Bakugan. More types of Bakugan with unique features were introduced under different names. BakuChance Bakugan had dice, BakuTremor Bakugan caused the Gate Card to rumble, etc.

Bakugan Mobile Assault was introduced in the middle of the anime, these were transforming vehicles that one could put their Bakugan on and activate them when sent to the Gate Card.

Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge[edit]

Anime[edit]

Physical Game[edit]

Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge introduced Bakugan with die-cast metal in the first half of the season. Several different features to the game were included such as Mechtogan, Mechtogan Titans, and BakuNano. More Bakugan Mobile Assault were also released.

The toyline also had a second half that was released alongside the second arc of the anime. The toyline introduced Sky Raiders (Bakugan that could jump), Battle Suits, Bakugan vs. Marvel, more Mechtogan, and Mechtogan Destroyers. Other special treatments were released such as Baku Camo Surge and BakuSpark, but some were exclusive to Europe. Another type of Bakugan, called BakuBlasters was released exclusively in Europe. These were larger Bakugan (36mm) that could shoot discs.

The End of Bakugan[edit]

After the final episode of the Legacy Series anime, this was the end of Bakugan. Of course Spin Master decided to release one more product later, but this was the farewell for the transforming marble brand. Some of Spin Masters plans such as BakuSpark and BakuBlasters did not get released in North America but ended up being released when Europe was selling the season 4 products and airing the anime.

Many of Spin Masters plans for the fourth season is still a mystery. Some Special Treatment Bakugan have been found on auction sites, some Combat Bakugan were also seen that were never released, and even an unreleased Mechtogan. Some BakuNano were also extremely rare or never released such as the Wave 3 ones, there were other BakuNano supposed to be released in the future such as Reconblast and Zillinger but were most likely cancelled. Other Bakugan including the Marvel Bakugan Thor and Hulk had prototypes but did not get released.

Sega Toys decided to continue creating Bakugan in Japan under BakuTech but this only lasted 2 years.

Bakugan was not dead in the mind of Spin Master, as in late 2015, the company began to start rebooting the series.

In late 2018, Bakugan finally returned and was rebooted, the transforming ball aspect on metal objects continued, but some things were changed. Unfortunately, Sega Toys is not working with Spin Master this time, Sega Toys currently holds the rights to the designs of the Legacy Bakugan.
