A Variant (Unofficial name) is a Bakugan from the Bakugan Reboot that have some type of distinguishing outward feature. Unlike the Legacy Special Treatments, these variants do not typically come with any gameplay functions.

Diamond

Main article: Diamond

Diamond Bakugan are Bakugan that have multiple parts of mold replaced with a clear plastic, and typically have glittery paint applied. These Bakugan come in both single packs and starter packs, and usually include a Diamond Evo Card specific to the Bakugan included.

Translucent

Translucent Bakugan were introduced during Bakugan: Armored Alliance. Starting with the third mix of the season, translucent Bakugan are added to packs with Ultras that contain their respective Baku-Gear.

Elemental

Elemental Bakugan were introduced in Bakugan: Geogan Rising, and are similar to translucent Bakugan in their design, being made of translucent, Faction colored plastic with textured paint. However, unlike transparent Bakugan they are chase figures, similar in rarity to Diamonds.

Platinum

Platinum Bakugan were introduced in Bakugan: Evolutions. They are a variant of Core Bakugan from Geogan Rising and Evolutions with significant Metal parts placed near the Magnet. Platinum Bakugan have their own Character Cards, and can also come in Hybrid Diamond or Elemental forms. This is the first variant to be exclusive to Core Bakugan.

Limited Edition

Limited Edition are special Bakugan that are given out by Spin Master to BakuMasters, social media influencers, or winners or certain contests. There are currently three versions of the Limited Edition kit: one for Battle Planet, a second for Armored Alliance, and a third for Geogan Rising.

Each Bakugan Battle Planet Limited Edition kit comes with two translucent Pyrus Bakugan (Dragonoid and Dragonoid Ultra), two foil Character Cards and two foil BakuCore.

Each Bakugan: Armored Alliance Limited Edition kit comes with a translucent Armored Alliance Pyrus Dragonoid Ultra and a corresponding Magma Blaster.

A Limited Edition Kit for Geogan Rising was announced at the third Bakugan Invitational, and comes with a translucent Pyrus Arcleon. A small number of them were distributed through a giveaway on the official Bakugan Instagram page.

Flip

Flip Bakugan have a color scheme that have primar and secondary colors switched when compared to the typical color Schemes of a Bakugan with the same faction or faction combo.

Ultra Rare

Ultra Rare are limited edition Bakugan that are translucent and come with a unique dealing. Ultra Rare are printed in specific limited quantities, 500 or 1000 copies of each toy in the line. They are distinct from "Limited Edition" Bakugan, as the former is only available through Spin Master promotion, but Ultra Rare Bakugan are planned for store shelves. They are known only in Core Bakugan and Geogan. So far, there are two variants Ultra Rare Bakugan came in: Armored Alliance translucent red Bakugan with golden and silver paint, and Geogan Rising Geogan with metallic secondary color paint.

Hexagonal

Hexagonal Bakugan have a paint scheme featuring hexagonal shapes. This style is different than the Bakugan's normal release, and has no gameplay element.
