Zak Jaguard was originally exclusive to the Bakugan Official Battle Field W Super DX Set (BTC-30) and BakuTech Battle Field W Rise 4 Set, which were releaesd on 14 October 2011[2] and 28 July 2012[3] respectively. However, it was finally released individually as Zak Jaguard Kai on 16 March 2013.[4]

The Kanji in the Japanese name of Zak Jaguard, (hyō), means leopard. 'Jaguard' is derived from 'jaguar' and 'guard'. Zak may have come from the Japanese phrase Zaku [嚼] which means "to chew."
