The Bakugan Attributes are representative of the Bakugan's elements. There are two different attribute systems: one for Bakugan Battle Brawlers and BakuTech! Bakugan, and one for Bakugan: Battle Planet.
In the original system, Vestroia's system was split into six planets of Pyrus (fire), Aquos (water), Ventus (wind), Subterra (earth), Haos (light), and Darkus (darkness). There are a few Bakugan who don't have an attribute and others who have an uncontrollable and forbidden power.
The new system is similar to the first, but the Subterra attribute no longer exists, replaced by Aurelus.

Attribute Relationships
All of the Attributes are put on a hexagonal circle and connect with each other in some way, allowing certain Ability Cards to activate and make Bakugan more powerful. These relations have only been used in the Anime and Video Game.
- Co-Side - These are attributes that are next to each other on the hexagonal circle. If the attribute of your Bakugan is next to the one of your opponent's Bakugan that it is in battle with, +100 Gs.
- Diagonal - These are attributes that are diagonally linked. These allow any Bakugan to receive a +100 G Power up as long as the two Attributes are in their Unused Pile.
- Triple Node - Unlike the other two, the triple node requires three attributes to work and is considered the hardest one to activate. These activate with the Bakugan and form triangles. If the three Bakugan in your possession are the three necessary to activate the triple node it can be done for +200 G. There are only two; Pyrus-Haos-Aquos and Ventus-Subterra-Darkus.
- Dextra (all six) - The most powerful combination, only capable of pulling off if you have all six attributes in your possession. If you pull this off, you automatically win. The only character to pull one off is Dan, with his Perfect Dragonoid, who is all six attributes at once.
