Boriates (Japanese version Goriates (ゴリアテス, Goriatesu?)) was a samurai-like Mechanical Bakugan used by Volt Luster after the loss of his previous Bakugan Brontes. It could combine with Dynamo to temporarily form Battle Arm Boriates.

Information

Description

The design of Boriates drew significantly from that of a samurai (likely to complement its brawler's own mindset); its face featured the iconic open mouth and horns. Its equipment consisted of many different weapons and tools. Its most recognized weapon was the Prometheus Cannon, a double-barrel cannon on its wrist that could be enhanced by Buster Mega Barrel (sprouted two more barrels) or Olympus Cannon (splits the barrels apart). Its other weapons included a heavy double-sided axe on its opposing limb, a hidden firearm on its back, and an energy blade. Boriates possessed the unique Custom Battle Ability, an enhancement that granted it near invisibility. Through this ability, Boriates could effortlessly overwhelm its competition. Even after the Battle Boriates didn't return to ball form.

Anime

Bakugan: New Vestroia

After Mylene Farrow disposed of Brontes and her own Bakugan Elico, Volt received a newly-built Boriates at an unspecified time between the two arcs of Bakugan: New Vestroia.

Boriates physically debuted in Brontes' Betrayal. Its battle was with Gus Grav, using a newly evolved Alto Brontes, who was seemingly brainwashed by a Forbidden Ability Card.

In Samurai Showdown, Boriates faced Ingram and, later, Nemus.

In Ambush, Boriates battled Saint Nemus and Master Ingram alongside Macubass.

In Volt's Revolt, Boriates was used for the final time after Volt was discovered leaving the Vexos by Hydron.

As of Final Fury, Boriates was the only Vexos Mechanical Bakugan whose fate was left undetermined.

  • Some of Boriates' abilities referred to Greek Mythology (Prometheus Cannon and Olympus Cannon) as well as Norse Mythology (Odin Shield).
  • The Gauntlet's scans of Boriates and Dryoid are in nearly identical poses.
  • Boriatewas the only Mechanical Bakugan that fought Dryoid, and wasn't destroyed by the latter.
