Maximus (マキシマス, Makishimasu?), better known as Drago (ドラゴ, Dorago?), is a Pyrus Dragonoid and the sole non-Aurelus member of the Supreme Council in the Bakugan Battle Planet series. He is the Partner Bakugan of Dan Kouzo until he was forced to go into hibernation from the final battle against Sabrus x Aurelus at the end of Armored Alliance.

However, Drago returned in Geogan Rising due to the threat Gregorius Reed posed by manipulating the Healing Core Cell. His body was transformed and restored to full power when the Awesome Brawlers' Bakugan transferred their restored energy into him at the cost of returning to an ever deeper hibernation. In Evolutions, Drago absorbed too much energy from a Pyrus Elemental Storm that emerged at Studio D and returned to Vestroia to transfer the excess energy into Trox, Pegatrix, Hydorous, Howlkor and Pharol, turning them and himself into Elemental Bakugan.

An Aquos variant also appears in Outer Demons, controlled by Dan's Doppelganger.

Noble and true... and maybe a little overly committed to achieving greatness, Dragonoid is in many ways King of all Bakugan. Or on the pathway to become. Right now, he's a prince still earning his wings. Drago is extremely selective about his human partner, and is happy to have chosen Dan… most of the time. He is a passionate fighter whose style is a perfect match for Dan's instinctive brute force approach.[1]

Bakugan Battle Planet

Drago is a Pyrus Dragonoid that becomes Dan Kouzo's Partner Bakugan. He appears on Earth for unknown reasons after the second Great Collision, inside of a pile of goo. After experiencing the Hide Matrix for the first time, Dan rolls Drago over a Pyrus BakuCore, Drago emerges from his ball form, frightening the members of the Awesome Ones.[2] Drago later trains and films videos with the Awesome Ones, discovering the power of BakuCores in the process.[3]

Drago continues to train and film with the Awesome Ones. He feels dissatisfied with not being to constantly brawl and train, and after one particular exhausting night, he persuades Dan to go get food for the group in the morning. On the way to their local Burger Joint, he and Dan encounter a mysterious Bakugan and brawler, who turn out to be Aay and his Ventus Mantonoid. Drago and Dan brawl Aay, defeating him and rescuing the Burger Joint. After he and Dan return to Studio D, they both fall asleep, exhausted from the brawl.[4]

After another intensive day of training, Drago and Dan are confronted by Wynton and Lia about the damage they caused while training. This scolding frustrates Dan, who takes Drago goes walking around Los Volmos. They encounter three Skorporoses and their brawlers the Rowdy Reds: Mac, Max, and Maggie. After Dan attempts to teach the Rowdy Reds how to use their Bakugan safely, they meet up with the rest of the Awesome Ones at the Burger Joint. A local news broadcast by Veronica Venegas reveals that Dan's tutoring was ineffective, showing the Rowdy Reds wrecking another part of Los Volmos, Costero Canyada. The Awesome Ones rush over to try to end the destruction, where Dan and Drago take on the Rowdy Reds by themselves. Drago subdues the Scoporoses, causing the Rowdy Reds to become upset over the defeat of their Bakugan, and the seeming destruction of the park. After the brawl ends, Dan shows them that the Drome reverses any damage that happens during a brawl. Drago later helps rebuild Costero Canyada with the Rowdy Reds and the rest of the Awesome Ones.[5]

Dan attempts to use Drago to brawl Marco Chezanello and his Pyrus Cyndeous after they force out the Rowdy Reds, however, on his initial throw Marco uses Cyndeous to blow about Drago's ball, preventing his activation. Drago is shot into a nest of young birds, where Dan retrieves him. While Dan and Drago are away, Marco orders Cyndeous to attack the remaining brawlers, which cause Cyndeous to fly in to a fit of rage at the cruelty of the order, and start attacking in random directions. One of the attacks is headed for Mac and Maggie, but Dan activates Drago and shields them from the blast. Despite being their opponent, Drago also protects Marco and Max from Cyndeous' random attacks. Just as Drago is about to be incapacitated by the attacks, Gorthion knocks Cyndeous off of him. Drago then counterattacks, hitting Cyndeous' shield with a barrage of attacks. As Cyndeous snaps out of his rage, he directly tells Marco that he will no longer be obeying his cowardly orders, which Drago and the others overhear. Hearing this, the brawl is called off[6]

After a spree of prank videos made by Wynton about Trox, the two get into an argument that causes them to break apart, which Drago witnesses, and is drawn into when Wynton wagers that if Trox can beat Drago, Cyndeous, and Gorthion, that he can do whatever he wants, included finding a new partner. Trox accepts, and takes a three-on-one brawl against the other three Bakugan. Trox deftly dodges all the attacks of the other three Bakugan. The three surround Trox and attack at the same time, but Trox tricks them by creating a hole underneath him using Rock Riser, causing the other Bakugan to attack each other. This wins Trox the brawl, and the wager. As the victor, Trox begins to walk away from his former partner, set on pursuing his new life. Wynton regrets his decisions, and asks Trox to come back, apologizing saying that he'll make no more pranks videos. Trox accepts his apology, and remains with the Awesome Ones. The team takes down their prank videos, losing a large amount of views, but retaining the trust of Trox.[7]

While Drago and Dan are training with Lightning and Howlkor, one of Howlkor's Prismatic Bolt attacks launches Drago in the aired, towards a nearby house. Dan recalls Drago back into his ball form to avoid destroying the house, but Drago still manages to break a window pane. The pair receive a scolding from the owner of the house, while Kravitz watches. Later that day, Drago and Dan are relaxing at his house with Drago while his parents, Bill and Barbara Kouzo prepare dinner, discussing with Drago the events of the previous afternoon. Kravitz knocks on their door, having disguised herself as a new neighbor of the Kouzo family, as well as an "Anti-Bakugan activist". When Dan's parents provided a measured response to her criticisms of Bakugan, Kravitz uses her technology from AAAnimus Inc. to force Drago out of his ball form, destroying the roof of the Kouzo's house.

Kravitz continues her mission of sowing discontent towards Bakugan in the community, forcing Bakugan out of ball form at unopportune moments around town. Finally, after having faced pushed back from Kravitz and the community of Los Volmos, the Awesome Ones decide to film a mock brawl video, using a cardboard set and keeping the Bakugan in ball forms. However, Kravitz has been spying on the group, and forces Drago, Trox, Gorthion, and Howlkor out of ball form, destroying the set. Kravitz then confronts the Awesome Ones again, disguised as the anti-Bakugan activist, along with several members of the community, include Bill and Barbara Kouzo. The group of protesters, including Dan's parents, demand that the Awesome Ones had their Bakugan over to Kravitz. Kravitz takes their Bakugan, declaring everything "safe".

While this is occurring, Benton Dusk watches, and decides to cause a weather satellite to plummet towards Los Volmos. Back in their clubhouse, the Awesome Ones watch Veronica Venegas as she reports on the incoming satellite. While Wynton and Lia scramble to grab what they can before evacuate, Dan formulates a plan: if they could get their Bakugan back, they could destroy the satellite and repair Los Volmos' perceptions towards Bakugan. The team stops Kravitz on her way out of Los Volmos, demanding their Bakugan back. Kravitz declines, but as she walks past the Awesome Ones, her device that forces Bakugan out of their ball forms is knocked from her person, falling and activating the Bakugan in the cases. The Bakugan break free, and Kravitz escapes. Drago breaks the device, and Dan and Drago destroy the satellite using Twisting Inferno. After seeing this, the citizens of Los Volmos, including Dan's parents, tear up their anti-Bakugan fliers, and return to accepting Bakugan.[8]

Dan uses Dragonoid after Gorthion is taken from Lia by China Riot. He and Wynton challenge China to another brawl, putting their Bakugan on the line in order to win back Gorthion. Despite their best efforts, Drago and Trox are still surprised by the movable arena. However, with the help of Lia and Pegatrix, they are able to locate BakuCores. With the combined effort of Drago, Trox, and Pegatrix, the Awesome Ones easily beat Maxotaur, and Gorthion is returned to Lia. However, China refuses to hand over Maxotaur, and escapes with Jenkins on a helicopter.[9]

Drago helps out with the contest between Magnus Black and Shun Kazami to join the Awesome Ones.[10]

Drago is among the rescue party that rescues Bear from Strata the Hunter.[11] He is also among the training group when Lightning discovers Artulean, and is the first to attempt to brawl him when he is brainwashed by Magnus Black.[12]
